Summertime and The Allergy News

Dear friends,

Europe is hot now, the summer is here, and many of us have holidays. This is the worst season for many of our patients, which we should not forget. Every time you meet friends with a pollen allergy, please remind them to take their medication. It is an effective way of reducing the symptoms until we find better cures or implement immunotherapy to a greater extent.

www.theallergynews.com is of course not going to take summer holidays. Several times a week, we will have updates of the latest and most interesting science in the field, so stay tuned!

I also wish to send you all a small reminder to plan for the autumn EAACI Mini-Congresses. The European Rhinitis and Asthma Meeting (ERAM/SERIN 2010) is going to take place in Brussels from 4 - 6 November 2010, and we have a fantastic programme for anyone interested in allergic disease of the airways, including combined rhinitis and asthma. Also, there will be ample discussion about chronic rhinosinusitis, that is more evidently becoming an important confounder in allergic airways disease and asthma.

The Skin Allergy Meeting (SAM 2010), from 11 - 13 November 2010, also promises to be a great success in Venice. There is a huge need to further discuss allergic skin disease, and we hope to have a substantial attendance.

With these little reminders, I wish you all a fantastic summer and a good rest until work starts again in a few weeks. And for those of you that are still working, don't forget to relax a little bit when the weather is nice. We all need that rest.

Best regards,
Jan Lötvall
EAACI President
